InfoSec Seminar – May 2022

 

The Information Systems Security and Assurance Management (ISSAM) Department in Mihalcheon School of Management proudly invites you to the monthly InfoSec Seminar. The seminar series will be open to anyone who is interested in security research and technologies, not only to Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) members.

 

Talk Description

Title: Components of IT Audit: Understanding the IT Audit Process

The goal of this presentation will be to provide an overview of the responsibilities and general duties on an IT Audit engagement. Elements of General IT Controls (GITCs) and IT Automated Controls (ITACs) will be explained along with determining the layers where automated controls operate, link those layers to specific risks arising from the use of IT and link those risks to the GITCs that address them. This seminar is for anyone considering a career in IT Audit and wants to find out what the job potentially entails.

Aman Dharni, M.Sc. (MISAM)

Consultant, Technology Risk Consulting

KPMG

 

Aman is a Consultant with KPMG’s Technology Risk Consulting practice. Aman has handled multiple IT audit engagements for SOX and J-Sox compliance projects. Aman also has experience working as a Risk Transformation Analyst with another Big4 firm where he assisted in SAP GRC and SAP Access Control implementation and post-implementation support projects. Prior to joining KPMG, Aman was a Sessional Instructor at Concordia University of Edmonton and taught Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination. Aman’s educational background includes a Master of Information Systems Assurance Management where his research was focused on allowing Canadian banks to adhere to privacy laws PIPEDA and GDPR, using COBIT 2019 framework.
